Clinical Alerts

Keep current with our clinical alerts service. Have the latest articles sent to your e-mail on specific topics as well as the latest table of contents of your favorite medical journals.

Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan

Need an article that you can't locate? The Charlotte AHEC Library can order any journal article or book you need through our Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan services. Articles and books owned by the Charlotte AHEC Library will be sent to affiliates at no charge. Items that have to be obtained from other libraries will carry a charge of $10 or $15 for rush handling. Most requests are filled in 1-3 days.

Literature Searches

Charlotte AHEC Medical Librarians will perform an in-depth literature search on the topic of your choice. To request a literature search from the Charlotte AHEC Library please e-mail a detailed explanation of your topic to charlotteaheclibrary@charlotteahec.org. Please be sure to include such information as years desired, article type, languages, etc.

Please note that AHEC Librarians cannot perform literature searches on school assignments, but can assist you in choosing the appropriate resources with which to conduct your research. With the exception of urgent patient care, all searches are completed on a first come, first serve basis.

Training Classes

The staff of the Charlotte AHEC Library is available to offer training sessions on a wide variety of research topics. Popular sessions include:

  • Navigating the AHEC Digital Library (ADL)
  • Searching popular medical databases including MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Clinical Key
  • Finding and printing e-resources
  • Using medical apps and point of care tools
